Eligibility & Application Process
To be eligible for the CPMB® Certification, applicants must meet specific criteria and complete a successful application process. Here’s how it works:
Eligibility: high school diploma required; associate degree recommended.
Study Materials: A set of comprehensive study materials will be provided

Examination Details
CPMB® Certification Exam Overview:
Fee: $199 (includes a free retake and a one-year PMBA membership)
Passing Score: 70%
Time Allowed: 45 days from the date of login
Study Materials: Open codebook (ICD-10 Coding Manuals allowed)
Certification Maintenance
To maintain your certification, you must complete the following each year:
Study for Interim Exams: Stay updated on Medical Coding and Billing practices.
Annual Maintenance Fee: $69, which includes your PMBA USA membership.

Feedback and Results
Feedback: After completing the examination, you will receive an evaluation form. We encourage you to provide feedback to help improve the process.
Results: You will receive your test score immediately after completion, followed by a detailed email report within one week.
Appeals and Retaking the Exam
If you are unsuccessful on your first attempt, you are permitted a free retake. However, after the second attempt, full examination fees will apply. Appeals for examination results must be submitted within 15 days.
After Certification
Upon passing the CPMB® exam:
- Receive a congratulatory email with passing scores and certificate details.
- Your name will be listed on the PMBA USA website.
- The certificate will be sent within 6-8 weeks.
